he Pussycat Dolls, recognized as "L.A.'s hottest cabaret ticket of the year" by People magazine, is a burlesque flavored revue which debuted at Johnny Depp's Viper Room in 1995. Since then it has sold out a series of shows at the Roxy and spiced up such fetes as the Elton John/InStyle Oscar party & opening act for Janes Addiction.
While attracting such guest performers as Christina Aguilera, Charlize Theron, Gwen Stefani, Dita Von Teese, Brittany Murphy and Christina Applegate, it has also lured such star attendees as Dave Navarro, Marilyn Manson, Leo DiCaprio, Heather Graham, David Spade, Gene Simmons and Hugh Hefner.
The Pussycat Dolls are choreographed by top choreographer, Robin Antin & it's performed by a bevy of sultry, dolled-up, cut-and-pasted women headlined by Carmen Electra. Carmen Electra is a hip-shimmying, underwear-sporting member of the 1940s-inspired cabaret dance group the Pussycat Dolls. ... Electra's routines include the 'Big Spender' opening number as well as a duet to Bjork's 'It's Oh So Quiet' and a sultry cigarette-smoking number set to Henry Mancini's 'Pink Panther' theme.
Through two dozen musical numbers, most of them lip-synched,retracing the same steps .eg., dancers standing with their backs to us, legs spread, suddenly plunge from the waist, revealing peek-a-boo underwear, again and again.
The moves have the requisite snap; the result is as glossy and impenetrable as a magazine spread. Posing as an ode to the pinup, with her mix of power and vulnerability, Carmen is really in her element when she is on stage going back to what she said was her first love "Dance"
It's not hard to imagine why this visually resplendent show quickly became the hottest ticket in town, especially with Carmen Electra, main squeeze of the Dolls creator-choreographer Robin Antin, front and center in the line of Victoria's Secret-clad showgirls.
